French Art Festival 2010

This year, Alliance Française de Penang has organized some interesting event in conjunction with the French Art Festival 2010. Musical events were held in USM and Wawasan Open University. French movies will be showed at GSC Gurney Plaza starting from 27th May.

I am so glad that i attended 3 out of 4 musical events, the first was the Amélie's Concert at Wawasan Open University. French humour was kind of refreshing. I love Amélie's singing style, very much like Ellie Goulding. The passion she had while she played the guitar fascinated me. French humour part 1, Amélie said she have to take our picture if not her friends won't believe her that she had came to Penang for performance.

Second event was at USM. A free admission though. Maybe because of the "FOC" thingy, i was kind of disappointed. The place was not so suitable for the chamber music performance. Trio Con Fuoco performed "Musique de Chambre" that night. Musical pieces that were written for group of instruments which traditionally be played in a small chamber of palace. So, it was actually music for the royal in old days. The show was no doubt, very good. Too bad we couldn't see their performance clearly due to the setting and the sitting. They deserve quite some standing ovation from the crowd. Other than the performance, I did run into my English teacher-Tuan Syed of my Spoken English last time at the School of Art before the show. Oh... i miss those days....those "spoken english" days.

The last event that i attended, is said to be the best among others. Too bad my friends Yin Chin and Su Hui couldn't join me for that. Not that they did not want, but they couldn't make it. It was so so awesome.....hehe.....Sorry about mentioning here. Mouron, released 7 albums in France, partnered with a great pianist, Terry Truck, performed some of the greatest love songs from Edith Piaf. Their performance were equally awesome. Piano performance as background and the singer as the subject of the night. French humour again lightened up my day.... Mouron was talking about her birth place, Marseilles, southern of France, with beautiful sea just like Penang, with not so much jellyfish...... OMG. She just reached and she already noticed about the Jelly Fish problems that we are having. When she sang the song "La Mer"-The Sea, she asked us to imagine beautiful blue sea with no jelly fish...... Funny huh?

I love her songs, she performed extremely well in the songs "La Vie en Rose"-Edith Piaf famous song and no doubt, "Un dessert dans le désert"- A dessert in the desert, a song with various kind of mouth watering famous french dessert such as crème caramel, crème brûlée, chocholat chaud and Crêpe Suzette. Oh.....Don't you think this song is Sweet???

At the end of the performance, Justine le director de Alliance Française gave a brief ending speech. She said that she has goosebumps from Mouron singing the Jacques Brel's songs. Well, i understand what she mean because i got the goosebumps as well, but in a enjoyable way. Mouron voice touched our heart. Mouron will be having her tour and i would really love to see her perform again on stage.....

So, the end of the musical events for French Art Festival 2010.......I would love to be part of it again next year.

À l'année prochaine!
